Converting Over Half of All Interviews into Revenue Streams for Chris Cano and Upshift

When the rest of the hospitality industry was shrinking, Upshift was growing thanks to their podcast produced by Content Allies. The hospitality industry has tended towards stagnation over the last several years. The Covid-19 pandemic limited the ability for restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues to attract a consistent customer base.

Chris Cano, Vice President of Customer Success at Upshift, began working with Content Allies to produce a hospitality-focused podcast at a time when the market was struggling. In spite of this challenging environment, Upshift was able to convert over half of their podcast interviews into new revenue opportunities.

Over the course of a few months, the Hospitality Leaders podcast opened new doors for Upshift:

  • Desired customers who had previously denied solicitation reached out to begin negotiating contracts

  • Current clients expanded their services, increasing Upshift’s revenue

  • New markets became accessible, expanding Upshift’s customer base

  • #1 Podcast in the hospitality space (in the US) with a rank of 96/100

These expanded sources of revenue were obtained through only two hours of work per week for Chris. Minimal effort secured maximum gain.

Strategy

We at Content Allies worked with Chris to understand his ideal customer and target market. From there, we created a catalog of future guests to appear on the podcast.


Guest Procurement

Chris never had to worry about inviting guests to join his podcast. We handled the outreach and scheduling for every podcast interview. All Chris had to do was show up and push “record.”

Audio and Visual Editing

Chris has the freedom to have an organic conversation with his guests. After the interview, he sends us the raw audio and video, and our editing team turns each recording into a fully-produced, seamless podcast episode. 


Show Branding

Our talented design team produced a podcast graphic, and entirely original album artwork for every new episode, highlighting the guest and the episode content.


Hosting and Distribution

We designed a unique and original website for Upshift to host their own show, and handled distribution to every major podcast host, like Spotify and Apple Podcasts

 

Shareable Graphics

Our designers produce shareable social media content for every episode, using compelling interview quotes to draw listeners to the podcast.


Video Shorts

An editing team pulls out enticing segments of each interview to produce short videos from the episode. These videos are postable across multiple social media platforms, increasing Upshift’s podcast engagement


LinkedIn Management

With access to Chris’ personal LinkedIn page, we create social posts on his behalf and post them to his page, driving his network to the podcast website.

Time-Saving Collaboration

With Content Allies handling all the production, distribution, and social media management, Chris is able to manage a professional-quality podcast while only needing to make time for two short interviews a week.

Expanding Network, Expanding Revenue

Interviews that Chris conducted led to networking opportunities with his guests. Over half of those interviews have created a new revenue stream for him and Upshift, or expanded an existing revenue producing relationship. Chris initiated new contracts as a direct result of his guests’ appearance on the podcast, and increased services with accounts he already had.
