How to use a Blue Yeti Microphone

  1. Plug the microphone into your computer via the USB chord..

  2. Make sure that you have the proper microphone input selected via Zoom, Riverside, or whatever recording tool you are using for your podcast audio. In Zoom there is a “^” in bottom left next to the Mute button that lets you select your audio input.

  3. On the back of the Microphone there is a Pattern knob. Please set it as shown in the image below

  4. On the back there is a Gain knob. Turn this so that it is sitting at roughly 7-9 o-clock as shown in the photo below.

  5. Speak into the side of the microphone and NOT the top of the microphone as shown in the photo below.

  6. Go to to https://webcammictest.com/check-mic.html and record a quick 10 second audio clip of you talking into the microphone. Make sure everything sounds decent. if you have any concerns, reach out to your podcast producer.

Your “Gain Knob” should be in the 7-9 o-clock position. And the Pattern should match the image you see above.
